Prospective Cohort Study of Caffeinated Beverage Intake as a Potential Trigger of Headaches among Migraineurs

Frequent drinking of caffeinated beverages may facilitate the onset of migraine headaches.

This study examined whether a connection exists between the ingestion of caffeinated beverages and the occurrence of migraine headaches. A total of 98 men and women reported their daily intake of caffeinated beverages and experience of migraine headaches for at least 6 weeks between March 2016 and October 2017.

Researchers discovered that more participants had migraine headaches on the day they took caffeinated beverages. The results of this study show that avid consumption of caffeinated beverages may trigger the development of migraine headaches.
