Statin use and thyroid cancer: a population-based case-control study.
Regular intake of statins may promote the development of thyroid cancer in women.
This study examined the use of statin medications in relation to the subsequent development of thyroid cancer. Researchers assessed the statin usage and occurrence of thyroid cancer among more than 3,000 Taiwanese men and women.
Researchers found a surge in thyroid cancer risk among females using statin drugs. This 2015 study of Taiwanese men and women revealed a positive association between statin use and thyroid cancer risk in women.
