Dietary cholesterol and lung cancer risk in a multiethnic population in Hawaii

The probability of developing lung cancer may be high in men who preferred consuming generous amounts of cholesterol-containing foods.

This study examined high dietary ingestion of cholesterol in relation to the subsequent development of lung cancer. Researchers from the United States gathered information about the eating habits of 627 healthy persons and 364 patients with lung cancer. 

The team of investigators noted that men, but not women, who consumed the highest amounts of cholesterol from their diet were at risk of having lung cancer. This study concluded that a high cholesterol diet may make a man more vulnerable to lung cancer.
