Statin-associated incident diabetes: a literature review.

Statin therapy is associated with increased diabetes mellitus risk.

This study investigated the correlation between statin intake and the occurrence of incident diabetes. Researchers reviewed 13-year-old data from 2000-2013 obtained from MEDLINE. They found out that individuals on statin therapy had high risk of developing diabetes mellitus. The results of this study suggest that statin use may promote the development of incident diabetes.
