Genetic Susceptibility, and Incident Type 2 Diabetes: A Prospective Cohort Study
Upping the intake of salty foods may put an individual at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
This study determined the role of salty foods in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Researchers charted the frequency of consumption of salty foods against type 2 diabetes diagnosis status in a study population comprising of more than 350,000 UK men and women.
Researchers found out that preference for salty foods resulted in an upsurge in the risk of type 2 diabetes. The findings of this study indicate that a high salty diet may foster the development of type 2 diabetes.
