Bioactive compounds in cranberries and their role in prevention of urinary tract infections
Consistent consumption of phytochemicals present in cranberries may help reduce the incidence of urinary tract infection in men and women.
This study validated the relationship between high dietary exposure to phytochemicals in cranberries and the probability of contracting urinary tract infection (UTI). Researchers reviewed evidence compiled from relevant studies.
Data analysis showed a strong link between frequent intake of cranberries and low likelihood of developing urinary tract infection. This study hypothesized that regular ingestion of phytochemicals from cranberries may boost an individual's defenses against urinary tract infection.
