Habitual Tea Consumption Increases the Incidence of Metabolic Syndrome in Middle-Aged and Older Individuals
Likeness for tea may trigger the onset of metabolic syndrome in middle-aged and elderly men and women.
This study investigated the hypothesis that regular consumption of tea is associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome in middle-aged and older adults. Researchers matched tea-drinking habits with the presence of metabolic syndrome in a study cohort comprising of 3,632 middle-aged and elderly Chinese men and women.
Researchers noticed that the greater the quantity and frequency of tea consumed, the more susceptible middle-aged and older adults are to having metabolic syndrome. A high incidence of metabolic syndrome may be found among middle-aged and elderly men and women who enjoy consuming tea, this study suggested.
