Statin therapy may promote the development of type 2 diabetes among US veterans.
This study examined if statin therapy is tied to higher risk of having type 2 diabetes. A total of 3,390,799 US veterans participated in this study and were assessed for their usage of statin medications and diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
Researchers noticed that long-term use of statins boost an individual's chances of getting type 2 diabetes. The results of this study show that statin therapy may increase the incidence of type 2 diabetes among US veterans.
