Alcohol consumption and risk of periodontitis: a meta-analysis.

Regular consumers of alcohol are more likely to develop periodontitis than non-consumers of alcoholic beverages.

This study evaluated the correlation between alcohol intake and the development of periodontitis by meta-analysis. Eighteen (18) studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed a high prevalence of periodontitis among regular consumers of alcohol. An alcohol consumption rate of 1g per day was found to increase periodontitis risk by 0.04%. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that high periodontitis risk is associated with alcohol consumption.
