Alcohol Use in Pregnancy and Miscarriage: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
The odds of suffering from miscarriage may be stacked against women who regularly consume alcohol during pregnancy.
This study investigated the risk of miscarriage among consumers and non-consumers of alcoholic beverages. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 231,808 pregnant women who took part in 24 studies.
Researchers noticed a spike in the rate of miscarriage among women who drank alcohol during pregnancy. The evidence from this study support the theory that alcohol consumption during pregnancy is tied to greater risk of miscarriage.
