Dietary Inflammatory Index and Its Association with the Prevalence of Coronary Heart Disease among 45,306 US Adults
Devout consumption of pro-inflammatory foods may drive up the risk of coronary heart disease in men and women.
This study investigated the impact of a pro-inflammatory diet on the burden of coronary heart disease (CHD). Researchers reviewed dietary information obtained from over 45,000 US men and women whose health was followed over a 9-year period.
Researchers identified an upward trend in the incidence of coronary heart disease with elevated intake of pro-inflammatory foods. This study pointed out that promoting the consumption of pro-inflammatory diets may be one of the factors responsible for the rising rates of coronary heart disease globally.
