Proinflammatory Diet Increases the Risk of Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Prospective Study of 129,408 UK Biobank Participants and Mendelian Randomization Analysis
Sticking to a proinflammatory diet may fuel the development of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
This study evaluated the link between eating a proinflammatory diet and the odds of developing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The study included 129,408 UK men and women who provided dietary and health information via questionnaires.
Researchers discovered that high dietary intake of proinflammatory foods correlated with heightened risk of irritable bowel syndrome. This study provided robust evidence that promoting the consumption of proinflammatory diets may result in an upsurge in the incidence of irritable bowel syndrome in men and women.
