Antidepressants use and risk of cataract development: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Antidepressant users may have a high propensity to develop cataracts.
This meta-analysis examined whether an association exists between the use of antidepressants and the risk of having cataracts. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis on 7 studies to analyze this association.
Researchers observed that regular intake of antidepressant medications promoted the formation of cataracts. The results of this study show that individuals on antidepressant drugs may be highly susceptible to cataracts.
