Higher dietary inflammatory index linked to increased risk of hypertension: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis

Subscribing to a pro-inflammatory diet may set the stage for hypertension in men and women.

This study utilized a meta-analytic approach to examine the influence exerted by pro-inflammatory diets on the burden of hypertension. Data from a total of 6 studies were included in this meta-analysis.

Researchers found out that pro-inflammatory food eaters had increased odds of becoming hypertensive. "Therefore, reducing pro-inflammatory components in the diet may be beneficial for the prevention and control of hypertension," the authors recommended.
