Association between physical activity levels and stroke risk among Chinese adults aged 45 and over based on CHARLS
Adopting a physically active lifestyle may help curtail the development of stroke in middle-aged and older adults.
This study assessed the influence physical activity exerts on stroke risk in middle-aged and elderly men and women. Researchers gathered data on the lifestyle and health of a number of middle-aged and elderly Chinese men and women recruited from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study.
Researchers observed that the higher the level of physical activity of participants, the better protected they are from stroke. "Our findings suggested that appropriate participation in physical activity is effective in preventing stroke in middle-aged and older adults," the authors concluded.
