Alcohol consumption and pancreatitis mortality in Russia.
Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of dying from pancreatitis.
This study investigated the correlation between alcohol intake and pancreatitis mortality risk. Researchers tracked the alcohol consumption and pancreatitis mortality rates among Russian men and women for the period between 1970-2005.
Researchers discovered that alcohol drinking was responsible for 63.1% and 26.8% of all pancreatitis-related deaths in Russian men and women. The consumption of an extra 1-liter of alcohol was found to elevate the risk of dying from pancreatitis by 7.0% in men and 2.3% in women. Data from this study indicate Alcoholics may have a high likelihood of suffering from deaths due to pancreatitis.
