Alcohol Intake and Hypertension Subtypes in Chinese Men

Habitual drinking of alcohol may increase a man's susceptibility to different types of hypertension, including isolated systolic, isolated diastolic, and systolic-diastolic hypertension.

This study focused on the role alcohol intake play in the development of different types of hypertension in men. Researchers analyzed alcohol use in comparison with the prevalence of isolated systolic, isolated diastolic, and systolic-diastolic hypertension among 5,317 Chinese men.

Researchers discovered that increase in the frequency of consumption of alcohol promoted the occurrence of isolated systolic, isolated diastolic, and systolic-diastolic hypertension. Evidence from this study suggest that fondness for alcohol can trigger the onset of hypertension in men.
