Positive association of alcohol consumption with incidence of hypertension in adults aged 40 years and over: Use of repeated alcohol consumption measurements
Frequent drinking of alcohol may contribute to the development of hypertension in men.
This study looked at the association between alcohol use and the onset of hypertension. Researchers matched alcohol consumption with diagnosis of hypertension in a study population comprising 4,989 Korean men and women aged 40 years and above.
Researchers noted that men with alcohol intake levels equivalent to 30 mls or more per day had high chances of being diagnosed with hypertension. This study provides further evidence that regular drinking of alcohol may increase a man's predisposition to hypertension.
