Dietary fiber intake and risk of gallstone: a case-control study
Individuals on high fiber diet are less prone to come down with gallstone disease.
This study explored the connection between the ingestion of foods rich in fiber and an individual's probability of suffering from gallstone disease. Researchers evaluated validated food frequency questionnaires obtained from 189 patients with gallstones and 342 persons without a previous record of this disease.
Researchers discovered that followers of high fiber diet experienced a significant drop in the likelihood of having gallstone disease. This study further strengthened the body of evidence linking greater consumption of foods packed with fiber with lower risk of gallstone disease.
