Dietary fiber intake from fresh and preserved food and risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: observational evidence from a Chinese population
Increased dietary exposure to fiber from fresh foods can help shield us from nasopharyngeal cancer.
This study analyzed the correlation between the ingestion of foods rich in fiber and the risk of developing nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers compared the fiber intake levels of 815 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer and 1,502 individuals without the disease.
Researchers observed that high intake of fiber from fresh foods, but not preserved foods, decreased the risk of having nasopharyngeal cancer. This study threw more light on the nasopharyngeal cancer-preventive effect of fiber from fresh foods.
