Association of dietary flavonoid intakes with prevalence of chronic respiratory diseases in adults

Eating foods high in flavonoids may help to fend off chronic respiratory disease, such as asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.

This study shed more light on the protective effect of dietary flavonoids against chronic respiratory disease. The study population included more than 15,000 men and women who responded to questionnaires seeking information about the types of food consumed and whether they have had chronic respiratory disease, such as asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.

Researchers found out that sustained ingestion of flavonoid-rich foods brightened a participant's chances of thwarting the development of chronic respiratory disease. This study concluded that including more flavonoid-containing foods in our diet may be beneficial for the prevention of chronic respiratory disease.
