Association between dietary antioxidant indices and hypertension among Chinese adults
Adequate intake of foods rich in antioxidants may help to maintain healthy blood pressure numbers and thwart the development of hypertension.
This study examined if habitual consumption of antioxidant-rich foods is beneficial for the prevention of hypertension. Researchers evaluated the eating habits and regularly measured the blood pressures of over 12,000 Chinese men and women.
Researchers identified a strong link between high dietary ingestion of antioxidants and healthy blood pressure numbers. The results of this study showed that frequent intake of antioxidant-containing foods may help to keep blood pressure within a normal range and halt the onset of hypertension.
