High composite dietary antioxidant index is associated with reduced risk of kidney stones: a cross-sectional analysis of NHANES 2007-2020

Consistent consumption of antioxidant-rich foods may help curtail the formation of stones in the kidneys.

This study affirmed the preventive effect of high antioxidant diet against kidney stones. Using dietary questionnaires, researchers assessed the nutritional habits of more than 29,000 men and women. The prevalence of kidney stones in the study population was obtained from hospital records.

Researchers found out that kidney stones occurred less frequently among participants who enjoyed eating foods packed with antioxidants. This study underscored the importance of a high antioxidant diet in the prevention of kidney stones in men and women.
