Alcohol as a risk factor for pancreatitis. A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Alcohol intake may raise the odds of pancreatitis in men and women.
This study assessed the impact of alcohol consumption on pancreatitis development risk. Researchers analyzed data obtained from more than 140,000 men and women that participated in 6 studies.
Researchers observed that the risk of pancreatitis rose with increase in the quantity and frequency of alcohol consumption. The findings of this study suggest that pancreatitis may occur with greater incidence in alcohol drinkers than in individuals who refrained from consuming these types of drinks.
