Cannabis Use Disorder and Epilepsy: A Cross-National Analysis of 657 072 Hospitalized Patients
Cannabis abuse may lead to a spike in the incidence of epilepsy hospitalization.
This study evaluated the correlation between cannabis abuse and hospitalization rates for epilepsy. Researchers charted cannabis usage against the number of hospital admissions for epilepsy in a study population comprising of 657,072 individuals.
Researchers attributed 56% of hospital admissions for epilepsy in the study population to cannabis abuse. The findings of this study demonstrated that individuals suffering from cannabis use disorder are likely to be hospitalized for epilepsy.
