High dietary ingestion of ultra-processed foods may make children to pile up excess weight and become obese.
This study was carried out to unravel the puzzle linking the intake of ultra-processed foods with the development of obesity in children. Researchers tracked the dietary habits and body weight of 962 children from Chile aged 4 years at the beginning of the study over a 2-year period.
Researchers noted that obesity occurred at a high rate among children fond of consuming ultra-processed foods. Data from this study support the obesity-promoting effect of ultra-processed foods in children.
