Long-Term Coffee Consumption and Risk of Gastric Cancer: A PRISMA-Compliant Dose-Response Meta-Analysis of Prospective Cohort Studies.

High intake of coffee may facilitate the development of stomach cancer.

This research work studied the association between coffee consumption and the odds of developing gastric (stomach) cancer. A group of Chinese researchers systematically reviewed data and evidence from 9 studies that examined more than 1 millions subjects.

The research team observed that the risk of stomach cancer rises as the frequency of consumption of coffee increases. This study provides evidence that long-term drinking of generous amounts of coffee may be tied to elevated gastric cancer risk.
