Inverse association between dietary habits with high total antioxidant capacity and prevalence of frailty among elderly Japanese women: a multicenter cross-sectional study
High dietary ingestion of antioxidants may hinder the development of frailty in elderly women.
This study investigated the hypothesis that increased dietary exposure to antioxidants may delay the development of frailty in elderly women. Over 2,000 Japanese women aged 65 years and above participated in this study.
Researchers found a low prevalence of frailty among women who consumed the most amounts of antioxidant-rich foods. This study documented that avid consumption of foods packed with antioxidants may help slow down the onset of frailty in older women.
