Association of Physical Activity Level With Risk of Dementia in a Nationwide Cohort in Korea
Adhering to a physically active lifestyle may hinder the onset of dementia in older adults.
This study examined the risk of dementia among 62,286 Korean elderly men and men based on the level of physical activity. Researchers reviewed data from Korean National Health Insurance Service Database from January 2009 to December 2013.
Researchers noted that physical activity, even of light intensity, slashed the risk of dementia. The findings of this study support the notion that engaging in physical activity may help to reduce the rate of occurrence of dementia in older adults.
