Fruit and Vegetable Consumption is Protective from Short Sleep and Poor Sleep Quality Among University Students from 28 Countries
Adequate intake of fruits and vegetables is associated with improved quality and longer sleep duration in young adults.
Does our choice of diet affect our quality and duration of sleep? This study was carried out to provide answer to the above question. Researchers studied over 21,000 University students from 28 different countries with regards to their eating and sleeping habits.
Researchers noted that the more fruits and vegetables participants consumed, the lesser their chances of experiencing restless, poor quality, and shorter duration of sleep. This study provides solid evidence that frequent ingestion of fruits and vegetables may boost sleep quality in young men and women.
