Association Between Dietary Fiber Intake and Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Adults

Devout consumption of fiber-containing foods may help an individual ward off non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

This research work studied the level of protection offers by high fiber diet against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). More than 6,000 American adults enrolled for this study and provided dietary and health information via questionnaires. 

Researchers discovered that upping the intake of fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, significantly slashed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease risk in both men and women. This study highlighted the beneficial role of high fiber diet in the prevention of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
