Dietary Fiber and Metabolic Syndrome: A Meta-Analysis and Review of Related Mechanisms.
High dietary ingestion of fiber may help to keep metabolic syndrome at bay.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to analyze data from previously published studies that investigated the impact of high fiber diets on the risk of acquiring metabolic syndrome. A total of 14 studies were considered for this meta-analysis.
Researchers noted that increased intake of fiber-ladened foods resulted in lower risk of metabolic syndrome. The data from this study indicate that fondness for fiber-rich foods may help hinder the onset of metabolic syndrome.
