Mortality in vegetarians and non-vegetarians: a collaborative analysis of 8,300 deaths among 76,000 men and women in five prospective studies.
Non vegetarians are much more liable to die from ischemic heart disease than vegetarians.
This study analyzed the impact of diets on mortality risk by means of a meta-analysis. Researchers examined the diets and mortality records of 76,172 UK, US, and German men and women for 10.6 years.
Researchers observed that individuals who reported consuming animal foods had greater risk of suffering from ischemic heart disease (IHD)-related deaths than vegetarians. Data from this study indicate that deaths resulting from ischemic heart disease may occur at a lower rate in vegetarians than in non vegetarians.
