Dietary cholesterol and egg yolk: not for patients at risk of vascular disease.

High consumption of dietary cholesterol promotes the development of vascular diseases.

This research work was carried out to determine the relationship between the consumption of dietary cholesterol and egg yolk and vascular disease development. Researchers reviewed data and evidence from several published literatures on the subject. They discovered that high consumption of dietary cholesterol, including egg yolk, damaged the arteries and increased susceptibility to several cardiovascular diseases. The findings of this review are contrary to widespread perception among healthcare professionals and the general public in Canada that high intake of dietary cholesterol is not harmful to cardiovascular health.
