A Close Relationship Between Ultra-Processed Foods and Adiposity in Adults in Southern Italy

Embracing a diet rich in ultra-processed foods may give rise to weight gain and obesity in men and women.

This study threw more light on the role of ultra-processed food consumption in the development of obesity. Researchers tracked the food choices and body mass index (BMI) of 175 men and women living in Southern Italy. 

Researchers noted that ultra-processed food intake promoted weight gain and obesity among study participants. This study identifies high ultra-processed food diet as a risk factor for obesity.
