Dietary fiber intake and all-cause and cause-specific mortality: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies

Opting for a diet rich in fiber-containing foods may diminish an individual's risk of suffering from premature deaths arising from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other causes.

The purpose of this study was to determine the role increased dietary exposure to fiber play in lowering mortality risk in men and women. Researchers sifted through data extracted from 64 studies involving more than 350,000 men and women.

Researchers discovered that habitual consumption of foods loaded with soluble and insoluble fiber significantly reduced an individual's chances of dying prematurely from cancer, cardiovascular ailments, and other chronic diseases. This study pointed out that embracing a high fiber diet may extend the lifespan of men and women.
