Higher Dietary Inflammation in Patients with Schizophrenia: A Case-Control Study in Korea

Hopping on the pro-inflammatory diet train may drive up the risk of schizophrenia in men and women.

This study assessed the risk of having schizophrenia based on the level of intake of pro-inflammatory foods. A total of 67 out of the 184 Korean men and women who volunteered dietary information for this study had schizophrenia.

Researchers noticed that most of the schizophrenia patients were at the top of the pro-inflammatory food consumption ladder. The data from this study showed that a pro-inflammatory diet may increase an individual's susceptibility to schizophrenia.
