Smoking and risk for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: analysis of the EPIC cohort.
Cigarette smoking may heighten an individual's risk of dying from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
This study examined the link between cigarette smoking and the probability of dying from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Researchers monitored the smoking habits and mortality records of more than half a million men and women.
Researchers observed that smoking doubled the risk of dying from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Evidence from this study indicate that cigarette smokers may have a high tendency to suffer from deaths due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
