Effect of coffee consumption on the risk of gastric cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies.
Habitual drinking of coffee may spur the development of cancerous cells and tumors in the cardia region of the stomach.
This study examined the risk of gastric (stomach) cancer associated with the intake of coffee. Researchers sifted through data extracted from 9 studies encompassing over 1,200,000 participants and 3,000 patients with gastric cancer.
Researchers noted that regular consumption of coffee promoted the development and growth of cancerous cells in the cardia region of the stomach. This study points out the role coffee drinking plays in development gastric cardia cancer.
