Frequency of citrus fruit intake is associated with the incidence of cardiovascular disease: the Jichi Medical School cohort study

Adding more citrus fruits to our diet may help halt the onset of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke and cerebral infarction.

The purpose of this study was to confirm the protective effects of citrus fruits against cardiovascular disease. Researchers examined the health data and citrus fruit-eating habits of more than 10,000 Japanese men and women.

Researchers observed that high dietary ingestion of citrus fruits cut down the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, including stroke and cerebral infarction. This study provides evidence that frequent consumption of citrus fruits seems to be protective against cardiovascular disease
