A plant-based diet and heart failure: case report and literature review.
A plant-based diet may be beneficial in the treatment and prevention of heart failure.
This study evaluated the role plant-based diets play in the treatment and prevention of heart failure. A team of scientists from the United States reviewed a case report and eligible population-based cohort studies.
The research team observed that adherence to a plant-based diet slashed the risk of developing heart failure and improved the symptoms in the patient under review. The authors concluded that plant-based diets may be effective in treating and preventing heart failure.
