Association of Dietary Inflammatory Index with cardiovascular disease in Kurdish adults: results of a prospective study on Ravansar non-communicable diseases

Fondness for pro-inflammatory foods may favor the development of cardiovascular disease in men and women.

This study looked at the influence of pro-inflammatory diets on the burden of cardiovascular disease. With the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers collected and analyzed data on the food choices of 6,369 Iranian men and women. The cardiovascular disease risk of each participant was also determined.

Researchers found out that adhering to a diet with high inflammatory properties tilted an individual's risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the upward direction. This study provided robust evidence that embracing a pro-inflammatory diet may promote the development of cardiovascular disease in men and women.
