Positive Association of Dietary Inflammatory Index with Incidence of Cardiovascular Disease: Findings from a Korean Population-Based Prospective Study

Following a pro-inflammatory diet may heighten the risk of cardiovascular disease in men and women.

This study examined the influence pro-inflammatory diets exert on the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Using validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers collected and reviewed data on the dietary choices of 162,773 Korean men and women for over 7 years. Up to 1,111 participants were diagnosed with cardiovascular disease during the study period.

Researchers discovered that the probability of suffering from cardiovascular disease went up with generous intake of pro-inflammatory foods. This study offered additional insight into the pivotal role pro-inflammatory diets play in the development of cardiovascular disease.
