Association of fruit and vegetable intake with predicted 10-year cardiovascular disease risk among hypertensive patients in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: a cross-sectional study

Imbibing the habit of consuming generous amounts of fruits and vegetables may shield patients with hypertension from suffering from cardiovascular disease.

This study explored the connection between adherence to a high fruit and vegetable diet and the future development of cardiovascular disease among hypertensive patients. Researchers utilized dietary information obtained from 191 Ethiopian men and women diagnosed with hypertension whose health was followed for 10 years. 

Researchers discovered that regular consumption of fruits and vegetables lessened the risk of cardiovascular disease occurring in patients with hypertension. This study adds to the evidence that frequent ingestion of fruits and vegetables may help hinder the development cardiovascular disease in hypertensive patients.
