Impact of antidepressants use on risk of myocardial infarction: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

​High myocardial infarction risk is associated with individuals taking antidepressant drugs.

This study evaluated the correlation between the intake of antidepressant medications and the likelihood of suffering from myocardial infarction. Researchers from India compiled data from 14 studies that investigated the effect of antidepressant use on myocardial infarction risk.

The research team observed a significant elevation in myocardial infarction risk among users of antidepressant drugs. This study adds to the growing body of literature describing the negative effect of antidepressant medications on heart health.
