Association between excessive alcohol consumption and incident diabetes mellitus among Japanese based on propensity score matching
Heavy drinking of alcohol may be tied to greater risk of type 2 diabetes.
This study x-rayed the hypothesis that fondness for alcohol can raise an individual's chances of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Researchers examined the alcohol-drinking habits and health data from more than 15,000 Japanese men and women.
Researchers discovered that high consumers of alcohol were more likely than non-consumers to suffer from type 2 diabetes. This study suggested that excessive use of alcohol may contribute to the onset of type 2 diabetes in men and women.
