Risk of new-onset diabetes associated with statin use.
Statin-treated patients may have a high tendency to develop type 2 diabetes.
This study investigated statin intake in relation to the development of new-onset diabetes. Researchers reviewed data and evidence obtained from 7 meta-analyses and 13 cohort studies. They found out that statin usage elevated the likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus. The results of this study indicate that statin-treated patients are highly susceptible to type 2 diabetes.
