Greater Dietary Inflammatory Index score is associated with higher likelihood of chronic kidney disease

Embracing a diet heavy on pro-inflammatory foods may make an individual more vulnerable to having chronic kidney disease (CKD).

This study examined the influence of consuming pro-inflammatory foods on the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). More than 20,000 individuals took part in this study and volunteered dietary and health information.

Researchers noted a spike in the incidence of chronic kidney disease was associated with elevated intake of pro-inflammatory foods. This study shed more light on the connection between a high inflammatory diet and increased risk of chronic kidney disease.
