Association between dietary antioxidant levels and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a mediation analysis of inflammatory factors
Switching to a high antioxidant diet may help foil the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
This research work studied the intake of dietary antioxidant in relation to the subsequent occurrence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Researchers followed more than 8,000 US men and women for over 11 years, monitoring the eating habits and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease diagnosis rates.
Researchers discovered that the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease went down with heightened consumption of antioxidant-rich foods. This study supported increasing the frequency of ingestion of foods packed with antioxidants as a viable preventive measure against the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
