Dietary vitamin C intake protects against COPD: the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2012

Incorporating more vitamin C-rich foods into our diet may help shield us from developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

This study evaluated the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) based on the frequency of consumption of vitamin C-containing foods. Researchers matched dietary preferences with the prevalence of COPD among 3,283 Korean men and women aged 40 years and above.

Researchers identified a significant decline in the risk of COPD among participants who enjoyed eating foods rich in vitamin C. Based on the data from this study, it can be concluded that high dietary intake of vitamin C can help guard against the development of COPD in men and women.
